TL;DR:The Craftsman Overdrive 64-piece set is a solid choice. The gunmetal finish is a nice touch, and the ratchets and sockets feel well-made. But even he kept a Craftsman set nearby for quick jobs or when he didn’t need his top-tier tools. That always stuck with me.So yeah, Craftsman has earned my trust. And this new Craftsman Overdrive 99-piece set keeps that legacy alive. The case is well-designed. Everything snaps into place, so there’s no rattling around when you pick it up.The 1/4″ and 3/8″ drive ratchets are great. The action is smooth, and the directional switch feels solid. The socket release works well. I like the longer handles too – they give you more leverage when dealing with stubborn bolts in tight spots, like under the dash or deep in an engine bay.The sockets are clearly marked and have Craftsman’s “Tight Torque” design, which grips fasteners well. The metric sockets are textured to tell them apart from the SAE ones, which is super handy when you’re using both.The Allen wrenches, driver handle, and bits are solid and dependable—basically what you’d expect from Craftsman.I wasn’t sure about the gunmetal chrome finish when I ordered it. Chrome is easy to wipe clean, but the darker tone won me over. It hides grease better, stands out on cluttered surfaces, and looks sleek without being too flashy.If I had to pick one thing I’d change, I’d add a few more tools—but honestly, I always want more tools!In short, this is a rock-solid set for the price.
