Great Tools but I don't like the Versastack System
I'm a long-time tool user and have everything from truck brands to harbor freight. I've been a craftsman user for 20 years and I have seen the brands ups and downs. These gunmetal chrome tools are excellent quality tools from Craftsman under the Stanley Black and Decker Umbrella. The finish and quality of these sockets are as good or better than the old US made stuff and I'm happy to see that these tools are made in Taiwan, unlike the mainline craftsman tools that are still being made in China. My first photo above shows the comparison between some old 36 Tooth USA ratchets and the new 120 Tooth Craftsman ratchets. These are a little longer and obviously a lot nicer and more refined. One thing I dislike about these ratchets is the high amount of backdrag on them, but I hope it improves with use. This seems to be a common problem with high tooth count ratchets. In my other photo, you can see these are significantly thicker than the old ratchets but it won't be an issue for most jobs. Another complain is the ratchets are not serviceable, so they cannot be cleaned or rebuilt. You will need to take them in for warranty if you ever have a problem. My biggest complaint with this set is how inefficient it is with space. The Versastack case is pretty large, but there is way more volume here than you really need for the tools. The insert is removeable and you see just how much empty space there really is under the tool tray. Unfortunately, the design doesn't allow you to store larger tools or wrenches underneath it. It is just really big and bulky for the relatively small number of tools you get. In reality, they're great quality tools and I'm really happy with them. I will probably put the sockets on rails and DIY my own divider system so I can pack some additional wrenches and deep sockets for an on-the-road kit. Right now I'm grabbing socket rails and stuffing them in a bag when I get called to help out friends and family so I hope that I can reconfigure this case to make it a little more functional.

Love the ratchets
I love the ratchets that are included in this set. It has fine tooth gearing and it struck me as having some good heft. Sure enough when I compared it to my trusty old 3/8 Craftsman ratchet, it was noticeably heavier. It's also fully polished with dark gunmetal chrome plating that looks really nice. The entire socket set also plated with gunmetal chrome (even the shaft to the socket driver), although the dark tint is most apparent in the ratchets. The box is well organized and clearly marked. The tools are easy to remove, even those with retaining snaps. The lid is secured with four latches, with the two in the front requiring a bit of force to unlatch. As a standalone set, this box isn't very space efficient. I measure it to be about 3-1/4" tall. But I can't really fault it for this since it's really meant to work with the Craftsman VersaStack modular storage system. Overall, the quality of the components in this set exceeded my expectations.
