This is a Craftsman set, the name says a lot, and this is a great set but can be better.
For the most part, these are nice sets of wrenches. They are holding the Craftsman's reputation well. These are durable, with a weighted feel in the hand, reflecting their longevity of use. There are a few places that could use a bit of improvement. First off, the packaging is not what I have come to expect. Wrench sets would typically come with a holder or case of some sort. This shows the care that the quality of these wrenches deserves off the bat. These are tossed in bags and not displayed at all. This takes away from the wow factor that such a nice set should carry. There is a polished finish that can make them slick, so a little texture would have helped. The other issue with these is the size of the displays on the wrenches. Craftsman did a good job with the size of the numbers, but since they have a polished finish, they are hard to read. They could have had the numbers have a darker backing as they have in the past, or even just color the numbers. A lot of the Craftsman fans are of an older generation, willing to pay a little extra for the extra quality and service that the brand stands for. When you go to the hardware store, there are a variety of brands with a cheaper price tag in comparison. There are not the same easy-to-replace services as before. Now you have to look around or send them in for the service. The display cases would give you a place in your toolbox to hold them, making them easy to find when needed. This extra little feature means a great deal when there is so much competition in the market. The other issue with the set is the selection. There are no box-end wrenches. This addition would create a more complete set, with this being a specialty set of wrenches. I would like to see both options be available so I do not have to look for another set. Specialty wrenches are not going to be used every day, so if you are going to get the set, you want to make sure the set will have all the options you would need. There is a nice selection of sizes. It would have been nice to have had the full options. Overall, this is still a decent wrench set. I have been a fan of Craftsman for decades, but there is still some room for improvement. I do not know if this is caused by a different factory or product designer, but it seems like there are some important corners being cut, and the wrong corners at that. Even with these factors in mind, this set is an excellent choice for those who enjoy getting their hands dirty and being a craftsman.
