Pros: Works great for grading and pipe work. Self levels on startup and slope can be manually dialed in for pipe ditch bottom grading. Comes in a nice case that looks to be water resistant. Case holds everything except the grade pole and tripod if you want to use one. Battery life is plenty long enough for a days work. Seems like a rugged tool for job site conditions.Cons: Receiver seems pretty sensitive and has trouble picking up the beam at distances >50′. I tried a different receiver from another brand and cured the problem, but it won’t fit in the case. Also the slope setting is not presented in a % slope format which is commonly used for pipe work. The user has to do the math and manually dial the slope to the proper grade. Once this can be understood, it’s pretty easy and works just like the expensive brands.Overall a good unit

Was so excited when my box arrived today. Was factory sealed, brand new. Opened it up, loved the storage case and layout inside the the box. But….then I got to inspecting the items. More to just become familiar with all the parts and ensure everything was included. Got down to the last piece, the holder for the laser detector that clamps to the grade rod. Crap!!! Broken!!! Had planned to use this tomorrow. Not anymore. Sad part is, this came from Dewalt like this. Really disappointed in their quality control. No way for this to have gotten broken inside the case. This was not a cheap purchase and I expected so much more from Dewalt. Highly disappointed.
