I recently purchased the Streamlight 14122 Sidewinder Aviation and have been impressed with its functionality and durability. Streamlight offers several versions of this light, each tailored to specific applications such as military, aviation, medical, and sportsman. These versions differ in terms of LED color offerings and configuration, but physically they are the same. It can be difficult to determine the specific color options without first consulting the company's website, where a PDF detailing the color options can be downloaded.One of the key advantages of this version is the inclusion of a green LED instead of a red LED, which can be useful for certain aviation applications.The newer models of the Sidewinder, such as the Compact II, offer the added convenience of being able to switch between a standard AA battery or the CR123A using a well-engineered spring loaded mechanism. The Sidewinder Aviation is lightweight, compact, and well-made, with a versatile clip that allows for easy attachment to clothing, belts, or head straps. I particularly like using it with the solid metal clip or the Streamlight elastic headstrap. It also features 4 intensity levels and a strobe function for all LEDs, not just the white light.In conclusion, the Streamlight 14122 Sidewinder Aviation is a great light for daily use, task lighting, or many aviation applications. The Streamlight 14123 Sidewinder Compact Featuring C4 Leds, with CR123A Lithium Battery, Green comes in several different configurations of LED colors. The model I purchased has white, green, blue and infrared LED's [ one each ]. Holding down the on off button will automatically toggle through the three different brightness levels for the currently selected LED, this function is available for all four of the LED's. A quick double tap of the on off button puts the unit into a strobe / flashing mode for the selected LED, this option is also available for each of the four LED's.Pros:- very versatile, 4 flashlights in one compact unit- easy to use, small compact size- 3 brightness levels for each of the LED's- the brightness is about the same as a small pocket flashlight, the unit will light up a small room reasonably well, or the path in front of you, but don't expect it to light up the forest for search and rescue.Cons:- I was expecting it to be a little bit brighter. But the versatility makes up for this.I would recommend this unit for those looking for a multicolor / multipurpose flashlight.
