Near the lake there are no street lights, and a full moon lights the back yard like a huge fluorescent in the sky. Given that the moon is only full about once a month, you need something for those in between times. This light not only throws a great beam of narrowly focused light, the lights on the rear of the unit are great for those following behind. The beam is narrower than some may want, but It is ideal for spotting and identifying what you spot. Getting a retinal reflection is great seeing what those eyes belong to is even better. The flashlight is built really well as all streamlights are. I must confess that while owning several different models of the streamlights i have bought other lights that I consider “throw aways” for the kids to use or to keep in backpacks and the like. This light feels solid and when I purchased i thought the shoulder strap was an option that i didn’t need. Reality is that the shoulder strap is great. The strap is constructed so that it almost like a hands free device. the flashlight is not heavy, but somehow the width and stoutness of the strap keeps the flashlight still and you don’t get any pendulum action.I haven’t put a tape to it, but it on clear land it goes forever , and in the woods the beam is strong enough to go through the trees and still travel the length of a football field. If i could make one improvement to the light it would somehow be a wide angle option with lower intensity. The thing is there are plenty of lights that provide that, this light is similar to having a boat or police spotlight in your hand. It is a great light.

Bought this as a gift. Great flashlight as far as I can tell. Kind of heavy. Feels like an expensive light. The shoulder strap is top notch. Recharging station sturdy and well designed.
