Very nice, very accurate
As pictured these Mitutoyo 505's are actually Japanese origin. These are produced in multiple countries like Brazil and Taiwan and generally he Japananese origin ones are the most wanted versions. I don't think the others would be inferior as they are all made to a standard from Mitutoyo which traces to NMIJ AIST through JCSS which is equivalent to NIST and PTB. Basically very good standards.Clocking was perfect on arrival and movement totally smooth. No excessive oil on the calipers (just a very very small amount on the jaws, none of the body) as the device is long term protected in the packaging with a piece of ferorbrite paper. The repeatability has been perfect in my usage and testing from 0.001 through 6" - always returning to zero. The teeth are nice and sharp and there is zero slack or rebound when using them. I've handled much more expensive calipers that feel like this - for a beginning machinist to a 3d printing hobbiest these will be a world making purchase and upgrade from the cheap $30ish dollar calipers most people would purchase.I love that there is no digital screen which means no batteries to maintain and it's never dead when you reach to use it!! The black dial face make it extremely easy to read in normal usage. The case it comes in is not padded, thought the calipers are shock proof, it would have been nice to have seen some form of padding in additional. The case is a nice extruded plastic case that you see most devices of this ilk arrive in, so not cheap not super nice, it just functionally works.Packaging from Mitutoyo is mininimal and appreciated. Same with Gamazones which was places in a foam package envelope (the thick one) which appeared to be enough protection to arrive to me totally undamaged or phased in any way.If you are looking for nicer calipers than the cheap $20-30 ones with a much higher level of accuracy but not break the bank the Mitutoyo 505's are without a doubt what you're looking for, wish I wouldn't have waited so long to try them out!

Quality tool that is worth the price
I've had the same calipers for 10 years and have worked very well and accurately up to an unfortunate accident. The new ones appear to still have the same good quality and accuracy! Very easy to read the black dial. Expensive but worth it if you use calipers on a daily basis
